Valeriya

Valerya Nikolenka was discovered by the agency Global Russian Models in her home city Novosibirsk at the age of fifteen.

The young model used to go to a professional ballet school till she started her career in the modeling business, but she’s still training on a regular basis.

Valeriya lives with her mother, a dentist, in a small apartment in the heart of Novosibirsk. They spend each summer in the Datcha like many Russian Families.

The living room is in the same time the bedroom of her mom. Valeriya is an only child, her father doesn’t take care of her.

Valeriya benefits from an incredible body control due to her long experience as a dancer.

With a population of 1,5 million, Novosibirsk is the third most populous city in Russia and the capital of Siberia.

Casting in Krasnoyarsk from Noah Models with Scouts from Women Management and Halo Models. Noah Models is one of the biggest Model Agencies in Russia and scouts regularly in the East of Russia for new young faces.

The winner of Miss Aisha 2013 in the Red Rock City in Novosibirsk gets a chance to prove herself in a model class at Global Russian Model. This is a usual way to recruit new talents and at the same good publicity for the agency.

At the age of fifteen, Valeriya is discovered by IMG Models Paris, but to get a work visa for France she has to wait till she’s sixteen.

Valeriya’s Mother Svetlana is very proud and scared at the same time for her daughter. She decides to join her daughter the first two weeks in Paris to support her and to make sure everything goes well.

Beauty is a very important issue in eastern countries, many girls dream about being famous. To be a model is a very popular and fine job.

It’s not about an escape from poverty, but simply a desire and a dream to be beautiful and famous.

After six month back and forth to get a visa, Valeriya finally got her work visa for France. In March 2014, she travels for six weeks to Paris where she has to work very hard to proof herself as a professional model.

After two weeks in Paris, Valeriya already got two jobs. After two more weeks alone, she is sent to Milan. After that first adventure, she returns back home in Siberia to finish school.

Nadja Kilchhofer studied Photography at the University of Arts & Design Lausanne in Switzerland and works together with Romain Mader since 2012.
